Jason Steinhauer serves as Liaison Specialist for the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. The Project collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. Congress created the Veterans History Project in 2000, the authorizing legislation receiving unanimous support and signed into law by President Clinton. Since then, it has become the largest oral history project in the country, relying on volunteers to collect the stories of America's veterans using guidelines laid out by the Project.
Preserve the story of the veteran in your life.
